ARUSHA: The 2025 edition of the Vodacom Twende Butiama Cycling Tour will cover 1,541 kilometers across 11 regions of Tanzania from 3rd to 13th July, culminating in a grand arrival at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere’s birthplace in Butiama, Mara Region.
The announcement was made today in Arusha city on 15 th April 2025.
Speaking in Arusha on Tuesday, Director of External Affairs and Vodacom Tanzania Foundation, Ms Zuweina Farah, emphasized the company’s enduring vision to leave no one behind in promoting development in Tanzania.
“We believe in connecting for a better future, and Twende Butiama is one of the ways we bring that vision to life. Whether it’s through digital inclusion, access to education, free medical services or climate action, this campaign demonstrates the real power of partnerships and purpose,” said Zuweina.
Over the last two years, Twende Butiama has directly improved the lives of thousands of Tanzanians.
With over 150,000 people benefiting from free medical services, more than 100,000 trees planted in schools to promote environmental awareness and enhance learning environment, more than 1,900 desks donated to 34 primary schools to ease classroom congestion, and 50 bicycles distributed to rural students to increase school attendance by reducing commute time—the tour has become a symbol of impact and progress.
This year’s edition will maintain that momentum with a renewed focus on education access, equitable learning, environmental conservation, and healthcare delivery. The initiative will also continue to support people with special needs through the donation of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, enabling inclusivity and empowerment.

Along the way, riders, stakeholders, and community volunteers will engage with residents through tree planting activities, education support, health camps, and community clean-ups.
According to Twende Butiama Tour founder Mr Gabriel Landa, the cycling initiative has grown into a national movement for change.
“We not only raise awareness but also directly contribute to the improvement of lives. This year, as we ride from C2 General Dar es Salaam to Butiama, we carry the hope of thousands of Tanzanians who believe in a brighter, sustainable future,” he said.
As the official launch nears, the tour continues to garner support from various stakeholders, including ABC Impact, ABC Bicycle, local government administration bodies, local and regional cycling clubs, and development partners.
