ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST: TANZANIA and Ivory Coast have agreed to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation, with a particular focus on advancing agricultural technologies, research, and trade.
The commitment was made during bilateral talks between Tanzania’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa and his Ivorian counterpart, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, held at the Prime Minister’s office in Abidjan.
Speaking after the meeting, Prime Minister Majaliwa said the two countries aim to enhance collaboration in modern agriculture, including mechanization, research, and market development.
“Côte d’Ivoire, with a population of over 31 million, leads in the production of cocoa, cashew nuts, and palm oil. They grow more cashews than Tanzania, while we cultivate cashews in the Coast Region and cocoa in Mbeya and other areas,” he noted.
Majaliwa also added: “Cocoa is a key export crop for Ivory Coast, earning them significant foreign exchange. We’ve agreed that our agriculture ministers will meet to identify areas for cooperation, including research and new markets,” Majaliwa added.

The two leaders also resolved to establish a business forum that will bring together private-sector stakeholders from both countries to exchange ideas and forge partnerships.
“We want the private sector to take the lead in driving this engagement,” Majaliwa emphasized.
On his part, Prime Minister Mambé, who also serves as Minister of Sports and Social Welfare, commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her leadership and Tanzania’s role in hosting the recent Africa Energy Forum in January.
“We are ready to work with Tanzania on agricultural tools and technology. Our agricultural sector is highly advanced, and we are eager to launch the business forum so that our people can share experiences,” he said.
Prime Minister Majaliwa was in Ivory Coast representing President Samia at the two-day Africa CEO Forum, which concluded yesterday.
