PRETORIA: SOUTH African envoys Mamelodi Sundowns face a tall order in their return leg match of the CAF Champions League final after their 1-1 draw with Pyramids at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

The draw now forces Mamelodi to win their away return leg as a barren draw, or a loss will see the diadem slip between their fingers.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested first-leg CAF Champions League final match held in South Africa this evening, May 24, 2025.

Mamelodi’s star player Lucas Ribeiro scored for Mamelodi in the 54th minute to give his team the lead which lasted until the extra time equalizer in the 90+4 by Pyramid’s Walid el Karti to make it level.

The match is yet to be decided in the second leg, where Pyramids will host the return match on June 1st at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
