Sabasaba fair attracts 15 nations two months early

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tantrade) yesterday said that 15 countries have already confirmed their participation in the upcoming 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), two months before the event.
The confirmation puts Tantrade on track to exceed this year’s participation goals of 30 countries which is a half mark and over 50 per cent of last year’s participation.
The Tantrade Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis said they are targeting participation of over 30 countries in against 28 of last year.
“Tantrade is working in collaboration with various companies and sponsors, including the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC), along with other stakeholders to attract more international participants,” said Ms Khamis.

The countries confirmed so far are China, South Korea, Dubai, Malaysia, India, Japan, Ghana, Italy, Syria, Switzerland, Burundi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda and Indonesia. Additionally, the Director General said they are this year’s targeting 500 international companies.
The DITF, a two-week annual event, is organised by Tantrade and begins at the last weekend of June. Tantrade also said they have dedicated Karume, Kilimanjaro, Sabasaba, Jakaya Kikwete, Mkapa, Mwinyi pavilions to international exhibitors.
The move is aimed at enhancing international engagement and increasing foreign exchange earnings. On domestic participation, Ms Khamis said, nine ministries, 42 government institutions and seven regions had confirmed their participation as per last Friday.
As the largest trade fair in the Eastern and Central African region, DITF serves as a significant international trade promotion platform, bringing together a vast number of exhibitors and visitors.
