DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans Head Coach Saed Ramovic has expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, following their 3-2 victory over Mashujaa FC at the KMC Complex on Thursday.
The win propelled Yanga to third place on the league table, with 30 points from 12 matches, while Mashujaa remained seventh with 19 points from 15 games.
Ramovic expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress shortly after his side secured the win.
“Winning today was crucial, but we cannot rest on this result. We must continue to work hard and remain vigilant, especially against stronger opponents,” he added.
He further commended the team’s quick adaptation to his playing style, underscoring that step by step; the players will fully embrace the system and bring success to the club.
“Step by step, players are adapting to my philosophy and I understand this process will take time,” he said.

Ramovic also reflected on the challenges he faced when joining the team, particularly the absence of four key players due to injuries. He noted that it affected the overall fitness and performance of the squad.
“When I joined Young Africans, I found four key players out with injuries, which inevitably impacted the overall fitness and performance of the squad. This is a situation that requires patience as we work to bring everyone back to their best physical condition,” he explained.
Despite the setbacks, the coach was pleased with the team’s strong start in the match.
“We started strong and created some promising chances in the opening minutes. However, our opponents displayed impressive defensive skills, successfully neutralising our attacks. The players are beginning to adjust to my philosophy and the style of football I want us to play,” he remarked.
Mashujaa FC’s Head Coach, Mohammed Abdallah, attributed his team’s defeat to costly defensive lapses and moments of lost focus that allowed Yanga to capitalise on key opportunities.
“We made small mistakes that resulted in us conceding goals. Young Africans have players who can quickly change the game and we lost focus at critical moments. That’s why we conceded three goals.
“Although we managed to score two goals, they weren’t sufficient to get even a point because our opponents had three. We will work on improving our focus moving forward. It’s important that we address these lapses to compete more effectively in upcoming games,” he said.
