PCCB smells rat in projects funded by GGML

GEITA: THE Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Geita Region has launched a special initiative aimed at curbing corruption in the implementation of community development projects funded by Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML).

Speaking during the opening of a workshop organized jointly by  PCCB and GGML in Geita town, the Geita Regional Administrative Secretary, Mohammed Gombati, emphasized that the fight against corruption in community projects is not the sole responsibility of  PCCB. He called for active cooperation from citizens to effectively combat such practices.

On his part, GGML Managing Director, Duran Archery, stated that corruption poses a major threat to economic growth and democratic governance worldwide. He announced that in collaboration with  PCCB , GGML will conduct 28 meetings at the village and neighborhood levels, as well as through awareness groups via radio broadcasts, to ensure the anti-corruption message reaches people from all walks of life.

Meanwhile, the Geita Regional Head of  PCCB, James Ruge, reiterated the institution’s core mission to prevent corruption at all levels. He affirmed that  PCCB  will continue working with various stakeholders, including GGML, to ensure transparency and accountability in the execution of development projects.

This initiative marks a joint effort between the public and private sectors to ensure that resources allocated for community development are used efficiently and free from corruption.
