ARUSHA: THE winners of the 2025 ICT Awards will be announced tonight in a highly anticipated ceremony in the Arusha region.

Organized by the Information and Communication Technology Commission (ICTC) in partnership with SoftVentures, the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA), and Deloitte, the awards aim to recognize excellence and innovation in the ICT sector.

Competitors have vied for top honors in 10 categories, including Innovation in ICT Products or Services, Best Use of ICT, ICT for Community Development, Youth Achievements in ICT, Women in ICT, Cybersecurity Excellence, Best Public Sector ICT Project, Sustainable ICT, TISPA Award for Best Internet Service Provider, and the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Jerry William Silaa , is expected to officiate as the guest of honor at the event.

According to Dr Nkundwe Mwasaga, the Director General of the ICT Commission, all preparations have been completed for this landmark event, which seeks to acknowledge outstanding contributions to investment, system development, service delivery, and innovation in the ICT sector.

According to the ICTD statement issued today, more than 380 participants submitted entries, which were professionally evaluated by Deloitte, ensuring a transparent and well-governed selection process.

The awards are designed to encourage good governance, innovation, and sustainable digital growth across Tanzania.

Additionally, participants competed across 10 main categories, with high participation recorded in 21 out of 22 subcategories.

Dr Mwasaga emphasized that the awards will help drive national innovation and global recognition for Tanzanian talent.

“We want Tanzania to be competitive in regional and international markets, where the digital economy offers countless opportunities,” he stated.

Recognizing the media’s role in informing and educating the public about ICT advancements, Dr Mwasaga announced plans to introduce a special category for journalists covering ICT-related topics.

He said the initiative aligns with the Sixth Phase Government’s vision, under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to position Tanzania as a leader in the digital economy and ensure it keeps pace with global technological advancements.
