KAGERA: KAGERA Sugar will host Simba at Kaitaba Stadium today, with Simba’s Coach Davids determined to break their struggles at the venue.

In the pre-match press conference, Coach Davids acknowledged the team’s historic struggles at Kaitaba Stadium, but stressed that their goal this time is to break the jinx and secure a decisive victory.

According to statistics, Simba have not won against Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium since 2022. The two teams have met there three times with two draws (1-1 in May 2023 and December 2022) and a 1-0 loss to Simba in January 2022.

“Records show that we have not had the best results against Kagera Sugar, especially when they are at home, in recent seasons. However, this time we have come better prepared and with the work we have put we are confident of getting a win,” Davids remarked.

Simba have been in perfect form since their last league defeat to Yanga in October. Since then, they have won all six of their league matches, including a recent 2-0 victory over KenGold at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Following Simba’s performance, they are second on the league table with 31 points from 12 matches.

“The win in our last match was crucial and uplifting. It showed that the players are fully in sync with our tactical approach, demonstrating their commitment and focus, I believe we can confidently build on that performance in tomorrow’s (today’s) game,” Davids noted.

While Simba boast a perfect record in their last six league games, Kagera Sugar have had mixed results in their last five matches, with three draws, one win and one loss.

Following their recent performance, Kagera Sugar currently occupy 14th place on the league table, with 11 points from 14 matches.

Simba’s goalkeeper Ally Salim, echoed the coach’s sentiments, underscoring the team’s readiness and morale.

He noted: “All preparations for this game are complete. We are just waiting for the match to begin so we can accomplish the task we came here for.

“We have been working hard in training to fine-tune our strategies and ensure that we deliver a strong performance. Everyone is focused and motivated to secure the three points. Our fans are our 12th player and we know they will be cheering us on, whether at the stadium or from afar we are determined to make them proud.”
