Zablon Singers join Gospel Music Awards’ entries

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Shinyanga-based gospel music group Zablon Singers and Joel Lwaga are among the mega stars of gospel music whose works are tabled for this year’s Gospel Music Awards gala next month.

 Their music works among the 529 gospel music hits expected to brighten the Awards gala scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam on May 23, this year.

Speaking today, April 25, in Dar es Salaam, the spokesperson for the awards, Harris Kapiga, said the organizing committee has approved 21 competition categories.

Each category will feature five nominated songs along with the names of the selected artists.

Kapiga stated that the purpose of the awards is to recognize and honor the contribution of gospel artists in the country.

He added that the public will be allowed to vote for their favorite nominees.

Some of the categories to be contested include Song of the Year, Best Gospel Music Producer, Gospel Artist of the Year, and Best Praise Song, among others.

Kapiga noted that preparations for the event, which will be the first of its kind in the country, have reached over 70 percent completion
