DAR ES SALAAM: QATAR, through the Mowasalat Company, has announced 400 job opportunities for Tanzanian drivers, it was announced today.

The Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, through its page on the social media platform X, has announced that the required drivers are for buses and trucks.

Speaking to the Daily News reporter in Dar es Salaam, the Head of the International Employment Program at the foundation, Evelyine Jackson, said this is the first time Qatar has offered such an opportunity to Tanzania.

“In the past, they used to recruit workers from countries like the Philippines, Kenya, and other nations, but now they have been impressed by the workforce from Tanzania,” Evelyine said.

She explained that through their subsidiary company, Imarahorizon, which deals with employment matters, they have been awarded the contract to advertise, shortlist, and conduct interviews for the 400 drivers, who will be fully funded to reach their workplaces.

Evelyine further stated that due to the growing diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Qatar, and the positive feedback on how Tanzanians perform well in foreign countries, especially in Oman and other United Arab Emirates (UAE) nations, Qatar was convinced to recruit Tanzanians.

“This is not the first time we have connected Tanzanians to employment opportunities. Our foundation primarily deals with healthcare matters, and we previously facilitated the recruitment of more than 500 nurses to Saudi Arabia. They have been performing excellently, serving as our ambassadors, and the company that hired them continues to recommend Tanzanians. That is why this opportunity has also come,” she elaborated.
